This mod removes the biome clustering by temperature in 1.7 and instead distributes biomes randomly, because they were in 1.6.4 and earlier, in order to have hot and cold biomes close to one another (biome size and terrain generation is otherwise default). Furthermore, a fresh world type is added (Random Biomes, using ID 15), in order to still play default/large biomes/amplified worlds in the modded game without fretting about messing them up.
Select Random Biomes because the world type in the planet options menu:
This is actually the result, looking down at spawn, utilizing the seed shown above (-123775873255737467):
From left to right, clockwise, you visit a mega taiga, taiga, jungle, ice plains, plains, and swamp.
Now, this is a larger scale rendering of the planet (a bit bigger than a level-3 map, 1024 blocks square); the amount of biomes in 1.7 ensures that youll still need to explore a bit to get all of the biomes
Also, being an optional section of this mod, is really a cave/ravine/mineshaft mod which modifies cave generation to obtain actual cave systems rather than random caves everywhere, makes ravines more variable/interesting, and a far more uniform distribution of abandoned mineshafts (no reduction in spawn rate near to the origin and the very least spacing between complexes, with a lesser overall chance).
This is a comparison between normal cave generation (left) and modified (right); observe that while cave systems are larger and denser, addititionally there is more empty space between them, without any small caves scattered around (i.e. the very least size was set):
Furthermore, caves and ravines were designed to not cut through the top (dirt/grass layer, much like caves in desert/mesa biomes), aside from rare small cave openings, one per cave system (more when there is a compound cave system), remember that these caves spiral completely right down to bedrock:
Random Biomes Caves: YOU NEED TO install the Random Biomes part because of this to work, or the overall game will crash; the changes also only affect the Random Biomes world type.
